David started playing with his first band, The Glengarry Highlanders. Later to leave and be one of the first members of “Lord of The Isles” pipe band under the great leadership of Ian MacDonald. Then at 16, David joined the Caledonian Pipe Band under the direction of Charlie Lumpston. Shortly after turning 18, David was invited by Pipe Major John Massey to become a founding member of the LAPD Pipe Band. He accepted the invitation and continued to play with them for approximately three years. Then briefly played with the Caber Feidh Pipe Band with some of the great pipers like Jimmy McColl. Then, while opening up for the Doo Da parade ran into Seamus Coyne and was asked to be the Pipe Sergeant for City of Glendale Pipe Band. Later, Seamus Coyne moved to New York and David was invited to play there but the traveling became too hectic. David played with some old friends Charlie & Malcolm Rosenberger of the Cameron Pipe Band for one season. Then, was contacted by a another great piper Ian Weidlaw to play with Blanford Pipe Band up in Redlands but then was contacted by Scott MacDonald to play with the LA Scots Pipe Band, which was a lot closer to home. David was contacted by Alan Weidlich to help rebuild the Caber Feidh Pipe Band of which he is currently retired from.
